Robert Jaworski - fantastic oranges and purples

About the exhibition:

Painting is different than cycling. This is a skill that is simply forgotten. So that this does not happen, you must constantly exercise, practice. It is not only about purely technical efficiency in terms of mapping reality, that is, "waving the brush." First of all, it's a matter of efficiency in creation. The ability to translate important matters about which we want to talk to the viewer into visual language. 

Robert Jaworski studied architecture at the Gdańsk University of Technology, obtained a diploma and successfully worked in the profession. He also practiced art all the time, but he only graduated from artistic studies at the Warsaw Academy a decade ago. Today he is a doctor of fine arts. 

I've watched Robert return to art for the past ten years. The artist expressly "modified" subsequent styles in his work. I have the impression that he ticked them off like a list in order to get into shape and self-expression. There was a realistic, hyper-realist period in Robert's work, and even works that could suggest associations with impressionism. However, the anchoring in style lasted a very short time. It was like doing homework. 

Robert was only satisfied with the experiments with the material. He went beyond painting with painting. On the one hand, it is "painting about painting", focused on its formal properties and expression resulting from the matter used. On the other hand, the ability to control the case. Another issue is mastering the space and annexing the surroundings. Creating objects that work on almost all senses. They have their own scale, color and texture. 

In this constructed expression met the artist's features that determine the uniqueness of his work. A keen awareness of what painting is. Brave crossing its borders. The architect's obvious ability to build a game with space. Color affirmation.

Color is a purely pictorial quality, but Robert also makes a step towards the usability of art. He skillfully balances on the border of pure painting and design space. This balancing act won him both critical acclaim and was appreciated by collectors. 

The title of the exhibition Fantastic Oranges and Purples emphasizes the importance of color in the artist's work. It is also like an honest confession. Robert shows how he enjoys playing, excites and pleases him. Creating is fun for the artist, which he wants to share with others. The title is also a bit of a wink to the audience. Good art does not always have to be involved and serious. It can also be pure joy. May like it. It can be addressed to the same degree in gallery interiors as in residential spaces. May provoke contact. To the touch. Be ambiguous and not obvious. Encourage you to take her with you. It can be a visual playground. This does not prevent her from being real art.
